My appetite for life is, I’m afraid, fairly ungovernable. Old rooms and new ideas, serious conversation dissolving into nonsense, an afternoon that takes an unexpected turn. I have particular tastes and a considerable weakness for having them surprised.

Spanish-born and European by nature, bourgeois by upbringing and bohemian by instinct, I’m particular rather than perfect. I know my own mind, laugh readily, and am quite capable of being the subject of the joke. I’m easily delighted, especially by people who are thoroughly absorbed in something they love.

Theatre, ballet and live music will reliably tempt me out. Long lunches tend to keep me out. I love beautiful interiors, excellent hotels and food made with heart, though a price tag alone has never impressed me. Give me something with character, made or chosen by someone who cares. I’m grateful for the beautiful things in my life, and I intend to enjoy them properly.

And I’m far less precious than my appearance might suggest. Some of my favourite days involve muddy boots, remote places or a little adrenaline. I have a mean golf swing, look meaner in a bikini somewhere remote, and am at my meanest cruising down a black run.

For all that motion, I have a quieter side. I like observing, daydreaming and taking my time- following a thought, catching a small detail, discovering what makes you laugh.  And I’m especially fond of that moment before dessert when neither of us is thinking about dessert.

I know what I like, but I’m always interested in what I haven’t thought yet. Make me laugh, tell me something I don’t know, or give me a good reason to lose track of time. I’m particular, but never impossible to delight.

I am happiest where polish meets appetite: a beautifully considered room, a table set with intention, a road disappearing into possibility. I like people with opinions, places with atmosphere and plans that leave a little room for the unexpected.

AT THE TABLE —

IN THE WILD —

AFTER THE CURTAIN —

Give me a tasting menu, a late lunch, or a hotel bar with good lighting. I like food done with heart, wine chosen with conviction, and conversation that refuses to stay in one lane.

I adore nature, long walks, hiking and the quiet reset of being somewhere with more sky than signal. I am also a surprisingly good shot, which is useful information if you take me into the countryside.

I love theatre, ballet, live music and small rooms where something is happening in real time. I like a performance, but I am not above becoming one of the evening’s more interesting distractions.

Take me somewhere beautiful — or somewhere nobody expected.
